Honda motors recently unveiled the prototype of their new hatchback Honda Brio which makes use of MAN MAXIMUM - MACHINE MINIMUM CONCEPT. Honda's "Man Maximum - Machine Minimum concept" is a basic approach to Honda car design which aims to maximize the space available for people and to minimize the space required for mechanical components. New Honda Brio is developed as a city car which is easy to use even in urban areas. The easy to handle compact body (LENGTH:3610mm X WIDTH:1680mm X HEIGHT:1475mm) of Brio justifies naming it a city car. At the same time, the Brio ensures enough cabin space for five people which is achieved by highly efficient packing. With Brio, Honda thoroughly continued the creation of an advanced exterior form, which is compact and at the same time, asserts a strong presence.
New Honda Brio is expected to come in 2 variants, namely S and V, both of which are powered by a 4-cylinder, 1.2 liter, i-VTEC engine that produces 90PS of power. Brio comes with 5-speed manual transmission and a CVT transmission, which is available only in the V variant. Honda will be providing safety technologies such a SRS front airbags, disc brakes, ABS and EBD as standard in all versions. The fuel economy of Brio is assumed to be around (100 km /5 liter).
Honda has already launched Brio in Thailand. The launch of Honda Brio in India and other Asian countries is expected to be by the end of this year. The price of Honda Brio in India is expected to be between 5 lakh and 7 lakh Indian rupee.

Detroit Motor Show, 2011, witnessed the debut of Hyundai's all new Veloster sports hatchback. The left-hand-drive version exhibited at the Detroit Auto Show had only one door at the drivers side(left side) and two doors on the passengers side(right side). The Australian version of the new Veloster also is likely to be powered by the new Gamma 1.6-litre direct-injection 4 cylinder petrol engine as the one shown in Detroit. Equipped with variable valve timing on both inlet and outlet valves, the engine also features electronic throttle control, roller timing chain and anti-friction coatings. Hyundai claims a best in its class specific output of 64.4kW per litre from the engine, which develops a maximum power of 103kW @ 6300rpm and maximum torque of 163Nm @ 4850rpm. This engine will be coupled with Hyundai's first dual-clutch automated transmission or a proprietary six-speed manual gearbox. Hyundai claims a fuel efficiency of 5.9L/100km in highway ride.
While the Veloster is described as a three-door vehicle for ease of explanation, it technically is a four-door hatch – three side doors and one at the back to access the boot.
The Electric power steering in Veloster is said to be tuned for sports driving and has a turning circle of 10.4 metres. Veloster comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels, with two types of optional 18-inch wheels, one of which comes with painted inserts, a segment first. Six airbags – dual front, side and curtain – are standard, as is ESC and vehicle stability management (VSM).

Among them, the new zero emission vehicle C-Zero from French automobile maker Citroen gained everyone's attention. The new Citroen C-Zero is a 100% Electric Car which produces zero emissions and is almost silent on the move. The C-Zero utilizes high energy density Lithium-Ion batteries with greater range. This new technology allows charging of the battery at any time whatever the initial charge state of the battery. The C-Zero is easy to charge using an ordinary plug.

100% Electric Means Zero Emission
Less is definitely more in the Citroen C-Zero - being 100% electric, it has no need for a noisy conventional engine, transmission or fuel tank - and all these adds up to zero Emissions.

Charge While You Ride
Another striking feature of Citroen C-Zero is that if you slow down the car, the Advanced Electric Motor acts as a generator, putting charge back into the batteries. So there is no chance of vehicle breakdown due to low charge.

Once fully charged, Citroen C-Zero can run a distance of 93 miles. The top speed of C-Zero is 80 mph. Charging C-Zero is very easy. A full charge takes approximately 7 hours, which can be done overnight or while parked during work. There is an alternate quick charge system, which enables 80% of battery to be charged in just half an hour. The cost of recharging C-Zero is minimal, making it far more economical each mile than a similar sized petrol car.

Following many automobile manufacturers like Volkswagen, Tata, Mitsubishi etc Renault Motors plans to enter the world of eco-friendly cars. As a first step, they are about to market their new zero-emission car: Renault Twizy by the end of this year. Renault plans to introduce first in Europe with a price tag beginning at €6,990.

Like for any other Zero-Emission vehicles, Twizy customers will lease the battery. The monthly subscription is €45 inclusive of taxes for an annual distance travelled of 7,500km, a figure which covers the vast majority of ordinary motorists' requirements.
Renault Twizy's running costs like insurance, maintenance and energy (which includes battery lease and electricity for recharging) are just as modest, working out at 15 percent lower than those of a 3-wheeled scooter.

Tata motors recently introduced a new city car concept named Pixel for Europe in the Tata Nano platform. Tata motors unveiled the new Tata Pixel concept at the Geneva Auto Show held in March 2011.
The new Tata pixel has got many features making it a perfect city car. The main among them are:

The Tata Pixel, with an innovative diamond-shaped door system and 'Zero Turn' feature is the latest city car concept for Europe from Tata Motors. The Pixel, built on Nano's platform is the most package efficient four-seater in the world with just over 3 metres in length. Even with the short length, it can comfortably accommodate four adults, unlike a typical city car which is either 2-seater or can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children only.
The Zero Turn toroidal traction-drive Infinitely Variable Transmission (IVT) in Tata Pixel provides it the ability to maneuver and park in the tightest of spaces. This highly efficient, cost-effective system assists rotation of the outer rear wheel forwards and the inner rear wheel backwards during low-speed manoeuvres, while the front wheels turn at acute angles. The resulting turning circle radius is just 2.6 metres. The glass area on the scissor doors provides excellent visibility even in the most extreme turning maneuver.
The "Scissor" doors of Pixel which rotate upwards from the front allow all four passengers to enter or exit it effortlessly, even in the tightest of spaces.

A forward sweeping roof-line, with minimal front and rear overhangs, highlights the youthful styling, while the window graphic features an interchangeable island that can be used to change the exterior appearance whenever desired.
Another significant feature of Tata Pixel is "My Tata Connect". It is the first integrated Human-Machine Interface (HMI) which enables seamless integration of the user's smartphone or tablet with the vehicle's infotainment system and also allows controlling key functions of the car. This interface with all-in-one touch screen display, allows the user to listen to his favorite songs, internet news and sport or stock updates. In addition, when docked in the instrument panel, it also allows temperature, ventilation and air-conditioning settings to be adjusted through its touch screen, as well as displaying information on the car's performance.

Tata Pixel is powered by a 1.2 litre 3-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine, positioned at the rear of it. The engine has a low friction design, featuring variable coolant and oil pump and rapid warm-up technologies. With optimized aerodynamic drag, low rolling-resistance tyres, stop-start technology, and intelligent battery charging, the Tata Pixel returns European combined cycle (NEDC) fuel economy of 3.4 l/100km and CO2 emissions of just 89g/km.

Putting an end to the rumors regarding the launch of a new luxury car, Maruti Suzuki India, launched its much awaited luxury sedan "Maruti Suzuki Kizashi" yesterday. The new Maruti Kizashi marks Maruti's debut into the upper end of the market. Since the last 1.5 years, there had been rumors regarding Kizashi, but Maruti officially announced the launch only recently.
The new Maruti Kizashi is powered by 2.4litre petrol engine which delivers it a maximum power of 178PS. The new Maruti Kizashi comes in two variants - Automatic Transmission priced at Rs.17.5-lakh and Six-Speed Manual Transmission at Rs.16.5-lakh.

Maruti Suzuki has positioned Kizashi as a sports sedan and will be available from next month onwards. The Kizashi is equipped with unique safety and luxury features and will be manufactured at Suzuki Motor Corporation's Sagara plant in Japan and imported to India as a completely built-up unit (CBU).
Maruti claims a mileage of 12.53km/l in the automatic model and 12.45km/l in manual model. Kizashi can be booked at the Maruti-Suzuki Showrooms with an initial deposit of Rs.50,000/-
Maruti had launched Kizashi in Japan in 2009 and later in United States. In Maruti Suzuki India's MEO(Managing Executive Officer) Mayank Pareek, "Kizashi is not about volumes... this sedan will further expand our portfolio in the market. Though such luxury car segment now occupies just 2.8 percentage of the Indian car market, in future we see this going up fast. This launch is in preparation for the future."

Ford Focus Electric(2012) The Passenger Electric Vehicle Focusing On Nature

Ford has announced that its "first" Passenger Electric Vehicle is going to hit the market by next year starting . The news has been confirmed by Ford in the last week's Consumer Electric Show in Las Vegas.

During the release Ford said the following lines :- "Much of Focus Electric's steering, handling, and braking feel is shared with the agile, sporty, fuel-powered Focus models upon which it's based, making Focus Electric a dynamic driver's car."

The focus of Ford through this project is in Nature and its resources and brighter future for the World. Ford says that Ford Focus Electric will be a perfect and real car by 2012 with a Top Speed of 84 mph.

The car is powered by Permanent Magnet Electric Motor making 123 hp and 181 pound-feet of torque. A 23 kWh LG Chem battery pack is set under the back seats that is actively liquid heated and cooled to increase the battery life and range.

Harley-Davidson, a giant in the field of heavy weight motorcycle industry began to assemble units in their plant in Haryana, India. Initially, Harley Davidson India, plans to market only two sportsters: Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow and Harley Davidson Sportster Iron 883.

The Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow is powered by an 883cc air-cooled engine, which provides it a torque of 70Nm @ 3750rpm.

The cost of Harley Davidson 883 SuperLow is expected to be Rs.5,50,000 ($12,100) and that of Sportster Iron 883 would be Rs.6,50,000 ($14,320). Though the American pricing for both sportsters is $7,999, the Indian prices would have raised if they were shipped from the USA instead of in kits. The booking for both Sportsters is expected to open in the beginning of January 2011.

In most of the accidents happening all over the world, the cause of accident is inattention on the part of the driver. Here are a number of things that must always be remembered by a good driver. Read this and judge yourself - ARE YOU A GOOD DRIVER????
Majority of us tend to drive subconsciously while doing other things - do phone calls, chat, eat, drink, control the music system etc. The most important thing that a good driver must keep in mind is to pay attention to driving alone. Take driving seriously and concentrate. If you want to make a call or eat something while driving, park your car to the road side and have it done or postpone them until you finish driving. Why should we play with our lives as well as that of others????
The next important thing that must be kept in mind is to drive defensively, which means drive cautiously, allowing yourself space and time to react to a hazard. It aids you in physically directing your car away from harm when the need arises, and in reading traffic and predicting hazardous situations. It helps to be calm. Being agitated only slows down your judgement and reactions. This is what alcohol does as well. A clear, calm and focused mind during driving might get the time to tell you, for example, that putting your vehicle in a ditch may be better than an impending head-on-collision.
The most crucial element in these quick decisions is space. If one drives just half feet away from the car ahead of him, he is never going to have a choice. Following close results in the driver paying sharp attention to the front and ignoring other information about the traffic, which a good driver must be aware of as well. Keep a distance of a car length or more with the vehicle in front of you. Or maintain two seconds or more to the car in front of you. This gives you enough time to react to hazards which are about to happen any time. If you are being tailgated, remember that driving is not a Formula 1 Race and just let them pass.
Whatever you do, drive within the limits of what you can see. In the night, there is a tendency to drive faster because the road is empty but remember, you can't notice all the hazards at night. So drive at a more measured pace. When there is fog, use fog lamps and if there are no fog lamps, use only low beams. Don't hesitate to stop driving further if the visibility is too low to drive. Another time when driving must be avoided if you can is the first rains when the roads are especially slippery because the rain washes the dust and oil embedded in the rough surface up. If you think the road is slippery, you must go slower to allow your tyres time to find purchase, and give yourself more space to stop to avoid someone in trouble ahead.
Only a small fraction of the accidents happening all over the world are caused by mechanical failure. If you suspect that you have a blown out tyre, try not to over react by applying sudden brakes. Instead, release the accelerator, hold the steering steady and keep the car going in your lane as it slows and eventually stops. Switch your hazard lamps on if you can and then slowly pull off the road.
Always keep in mind that the hazard indicators are used to indicate trouble and use them only if necessary. Remember to check your mirrors every single time before you change directions.
